see-through faith

Well not quite.

I have to admit my Friday Fast has been a bit AWOL the last few weeks. I’ve managed to avoid the internet – but haven’t always used that time with God I’m sad to say. Last Friday I was teaching so that was my excuse, but to be honest my prayer life has been a bit disasterous for the past couple of weeks or so. It’s all due – I think – to my suddenly being way too busy. Again mostly my own fault – taking on too much, not knowing when to say ‘no’ etc etc. I need to find His balance again.

Tomorrow is Friday again. How did that happen?

This one is a special though.I’m celebrating my 50th birthday (in advance!).

A couple of hours ago I was wondering why on earth I’d been persuaded to host a party at all – I burnt one cake, the house was a mess, and panic mode was winning. But now the house is straighter and a bit cleaner again and even my office is resembling an office rather than a tip … Hallelujah! …  so I think I’ll survive and I do think the party will be a lot of fun. I have some very cool friends.

Not all can make it of course- even those who live locally. There’s a lot of flu about, some people already had prior engagements etc. etc. but one thing I’m really happy about is that eija is winding her way here tomorrow evening which is a really unexpected bonus.

I wrote on the invitation “no flowers (hubby is allergic) and no presents – your being here is enough” – because of all the love languages mine is time spent with friends – but I honestly didn’t expect her to come. It’s a very long drive and it IS winter. (Yes we have a sprinkling of snow on the ground and there’s been an icy wind all week too!). But she’s coming and staying for the weekend and on Saturday we’re going camera shopping ‘just looking’ which I hope will help me decide what camera to buy. I’m not a photographer like she is – but I’d like to become a bit more proficient! Let’s see.

The party is come-as-you-are … and pot luck.  A friend just called to ask if we can barbeque. Hubby said ‘why not?’ … so I’m wondering what’s cooking. But it will be a lot of fun. No idea what I’ll wear. A young friend has been shortening my trousers for me – but I’m not sure if they’ll be ready by tomorrow at least in time for me to put them on before the party. Let’s see.

Anyway feasting not fasting tomorrow. And we’re in good company. Jesus did that too
