the name of the Lord be praised
Church yesterday was the best I’ve known it (in years and years).
To put it in perspective the worship band, though good, were not the best ever; the preaching was excellent (though not the most charismatic or dynamic preacher ever); and the leading was good too but again nothing out of the extra-ordinary … but what made the meeting special was that God really showed up.
By that I mean that we didn’t simply go through the motions of doing church (which sadly so often happens) but were open to God doing a new thing in us, and with us, and through us – there was a glimpse of our actually being church, of getting the urge to live out what we were singing and that’s so exciting.
The proof of the pudding is always in the eating as they say, though isn’t it?By that I mean what we do with what we experienced and were taught yesterday is vital.
Nonetheless I walked out of the building yesterday with a lightness of foot and of heart, determined to put some of what I heard into practice with a new fervour. The message was really simple – we are church (we don’t just go there) and the call to authentic discipleship is -well- as authentic as we allow it to be. There’s really no room for lone (I’ll only do it my way) Christians in the kingdom of God – we are in this together for the long-haul, and we need one another to help us (as Paul Baloche’s worship song Rising would say) ‘be the people of God, in the power of God, for the Kingdom of God’ here where we are.
love it
…This so fits in with where I am right now -and with what Inspire has been opening up to me.
PS spare a prayer for eija… this is what she woke up to this morning … Brrrr. Very thankful for TS who changed our car’s tyres here on Saturday afternoon.

There still are drops of snow here and there…
Thank you for your prayers, anyone who participated. They were needed, not because of the snow but other issues. For now things seem to be a bit better.
